Rainbow Loom

Rainbow Loom

My son, Henry, was given a Rainbow Loom as a birthday present a couple of years ago. At the time he made a few bracelets here and there, but nothing too extraordinary. Well, that all changed a couple of months ago.

A girl at school gave him a figurine made out of Rainbow Loom bands. That really sparked his interest to start making things on his loom again. He started again by just making bracelets, but then wanted to know how to make the people.

Thanks to good ole Youtube, we now have a complete obsession with making different figurines on the Rainbow Loom. Seriously, it seems like we are looming every day! This also means that I had to learn how to do the actual looming (and I am not crafty)! 🙂 I am asked to loom things. All. The. Time. Sometimes I’m asked even when it’s completely inappropriate (like when I’m going to the bathroom, tmi?), ha! Some of these designs have so many bands on a peg that it’s hard for him to do it on his own.

Henry is to the point now that he doesn’t even watch the videos anymore. He just creates things on his own. Lately, Henry has been trying to make figurines based off of t.v. show characters (e.g. the dragon, Pokemon, Slugterra). He also wants to start making his own videos! Do you have kids obsessed with Rainbow Loom too? Or, do your kids have any looming videos they really like? I’d love to share more with Henry.

  1. Amber – are there any you tube videos or channels you recommend to make these?? My daughter would LOVE to do this!!

    1. Hi Erin! I would recommend starting with this video. It is the one Henry started with. From there I would just search “rainbow loom people” in youtube and you will find all kinds of other videos.
